Sisi Speaks of a “Red Line” That Egypt Will Not Allow to Be Crossed

Al-Taj News – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that “tampering with Sudan’s security, unity, and sovereignty constitutes a red line that Egypt will not allow to be crossed.”

Sisi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit, held in the Indian capital, New Delhi.

According to the Egyptian Presidency, the talks addressed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the situation in Sudan, with the two leaders discussing current developments and, according to the Egyptian statement, stressing the need to preserve Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and national institutions.

The meeting also addressed the Iranian crisis, and the two presidents, according to the Egyptian Presidency, affirmed the priority of de-escalation and a return to the path of negotiations, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable agreement that ends the crisis through peaceful means.

Egypt repeatedly stresses that it “will not tolerate any aggression against Sudan or any threat to its unity.”

Yesterday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stated that any threat to Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial unity constitutes a red line for Egypt, and that any aggression against Sudan will not be tolerated.

During a meeting with ambassadors of European Union countries accredited to Egypt, he said that Egypt is making efforts to end this crisis, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
